We welcome children of all ages to our worship services and Christian formation classes and activities. At Manakin, church is a place where children can learn of God’s love and grace and what it means to fully participate in a loving, church family and to take that love out into the world.
Pre-K – 3rd Grade
9:45 a.m. – We will meet in the Chapel room next to the Library in Denny Hall.
During our Children’s formation, we strive to provide a safe and sacred place where learning and growing in God’s love may become a lifelong process. In classes, children:
- Explore spiritual practices and what happens during our worship services to allow them to explore and learn in a developmentally appropriate way.
- Engage the stories of the Bible through creative storytelling and wonder about how these stories may be reflected in their own lives.
- Create arts and crafts projects to help them recreate the stories themselves.
- Encourage them to participate in outreach programs and service projects so they might learn what it means to be God’s hands and feet in the world
The children will rejoin their families in the main church at the passing of the Peace and to participate in the celebration of the Eucharist.
Worship Bags
If your children wish to stay with you in the service, we have worship bags at the back of the church with coloring sheets, books, a children’s book to follow along with the service, and several other things to help keep their hands busy. Children absorb so much more than we think they do!
