The Men of the Church typically meet for breakfast on the first Saturday of the month, September to May. The 8:00 a.m. breakfast meeting is open to all men and provides time for fellowship, making new acquaintances and renewing old friendships while enjoying a good country-style breakfast and an educational presentation. Presentations in the past have included updates on state political activities, saving Chesapeake Bay, the use of drones, ways to take medicine and stay healthy, Wounded Warriors and Families of the Wounded programs, types of Virginia wildlife, and even a joke-telling program! There are no dues, but a $5.00 donation is requested to cover the breakfast expenses.
Other Men of the Church activities include a semi-annual cleanup of the churchyard and performing minor repairs on the church property. The group provides work crews for the Powhatan (County) Habitat for Humanity house-building projects on an on-demand basis. The Men of the Church also offer work crews that can be “purchased” at our Annual Church Gala to perform yard cleanup and minor house repairs for the winning bidder. The Men cook at the annual May church picnic, as well as cook an enormous amount of stew for the Annual Brunswick Stew Sale each November.
The Manakin Men of the Church is an integral element of our Church life, and we invite all men to come and be a part of this important and fun group!
