“Alleluia! He Is Risen!”

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
The Lord is, indeed, risen! Through the forty days of Lent, we have prepared ourselves – singly and collectively. We have examined ourselves, sought the guidance of the Holy Spirit in discerning God’s will for us, braced ourselves for the tragedy of the Passion of our Lord, lived through his triumphal entry to Jerusalem, his gift of the Holy Eucharist and example of the foot-washing, and through their betrayal, denial, and desertion. Then, in the light and the power of the New Fire at the Great Vigil and in our “Halleluiahs” on Easter Sunday morning, we have welcomed him once again to the resurrected life. He now calls us into that life – a new life, filled with new opportunities and new challenges.

One of the ways we have sought to explore our life together has been through the Lenten Programs, with help from many of the Diocesan staff and with the use of the Holy Cow survey. The participation has been wonderful, and both exciting ideas and heart-felt concerns about our life together were shared. We hope, as the months unfold before us, to further that process of discernment, to discover more ways in which the Holy Spirit will call us into that new life that has been bought for us at great price on the cross and which has flowed into each of our lives of resurrection through God’s grace in our Baptisms. As we seek to fulfill our baptismal vows, let us pray together, play together, speak together and live together in the grace of fellowship, forgiveness, and hope into which Jesus called his disciples at the Resurrection – and into which he calls them still.

Ginny, Matthew, and I wish each of you the happiest and most blessed of Easter- tides as we celebrate the Great Fifty Days of our Lord’s Resurrection!

“The Lord is Risen, Indeed!”

In Christ’s Love,
Michael+
