Renovation Continues
A dedicated group of parishioners continue to work on our Sunday School Classroom renovations. So far there have been three official workdays for cleaning and painting. Some have also put in many hours in between those days.
New furniture and new rugs that were ordered in the beginning of summer have recently arrived! We are all very excited about beginning to use our “new” rooms in September. We will have an official dedication of our Carolyn Cromwell Educational wing later in the Fall. Thank you to all who have come together so enthusiastically for this project.
New Year Begins!
Our Church School classes will begin on Sunday, September 12th. Please mark that date on your calendars and be at church with a friend! It is not only the first day of classes by it is also “Bring A Friend Sunday.” Come and join us! Remember, classes begin at 9:15 AM, and we will be registering students that morning. This is a very important morning for our Christian Formation team.
September Prayer Series
Our Christian Formation Team has planned a special series on Prayer for September 12th, 19th and 26th. We will be using materials and ideas that we learned at last year’s Teacher’s Toolbox. Our students will meet jointly each Sunday and then we will break out into our individual classes. Special activities are planned for these Sundays and will provide a great foundation for our Church School year.
Christian Educator's Banquet
Mark your calendars for the Annual Christian Educator’s Banquet! Manakin will soon announce our nominee for this honor. The banquet is on Friday, November 12th. Move information will be in out next newsletter.
Tween Scene
Our Tween Scene is alive and well at Manakin! We will be meeting soon with students and parents to plan this year’s upcoming events. Watch for more information.
Confirmation, reception, or reaffirmation
Young people , 8th grade and up seeking confirmation or adults seeking confirmation, reception into the church or who wish to reaffirm their commitment to the Body of Christ please contact Michael Stone or Lucinda Stevens.
Infant/Toddler Volunteers
If you are interested in being a volunteer for our Infant/toddler class (the Shepherds, ages 0-36 months), there is a sign up sheet in the Parish Hall. Volunteers for this class serve one Sunday a month during a term. Our terms are Fall: September 7th - November 23rd, Winter—November 30th -February 22nd and Spring March 1- June 7.
