Hot Lunch Feeding at Greater Mt. Moriah in December

by Church Staff

By Birdie Lighthiser

We will be preparing and serving our guests at Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church again on December 30. We need volunteers to prepare casseroles and volunteers to serve. Lunch is served at 12:00 p.m. Manakin serves a hot meal to 200-250 people every month that has a fifth Wednesday. There are about 4 or 5 feedings per year. Manakin Outreach partners with Richmond Friends of the Homeless in this ministry to the homeless and working poor in the city of Richmond. Please put December 30 on your calendars. This feeding will be during a break from school, so there will be more children for lunch than usual. Watch for a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in Denny Hall. Thank you for your continued generous support.

Our next feeding program will take place on Saturday, November 28 at 9:00 a.m. in Denny Hall. This will be the last feeding program of the year. We will be packing and delivering 100 lunches for 3 homeless shelters. A sign-up sheet will be located in Denny Hall. If you have any questions, please contact the Church Office. Thank you in advance. All ages are welcome.

Book Club Update

by Church Staff

By Birdie Lighthiser

Thank you to all who came out to meet our visiting writer on Friday, October 16. We had a lovely evening with Beth Macy, writer of Factory Man. Thanks to all who helped make that event possible.

Our next Book Club selection is The Faith Club by Ranya Idliby, Suzanne Oliver, and Priscilla Warner. This book explores the feelings and shared beliefs that three women…Christian, Jew, and Muslim…navigate after the attack on 9/11. They learn to respect each other and a great friendship evolves. Our next meeting is Tuesday, January 19 at 5:00 p.m. in Denny Hall. Feel free to bring a bag supper. Dessert is always provided. Please join us
